Still Alice is a drama by Richard Glatzer and it was released at 2014. The directors are Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland and the basic cast includes Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin, Kristen Stewart, Hunter Parish, Kate Bosworth.
The film takes place at New York where the 50 year old linguistics professor Alice Howland (Julianne Moore) discovers that has early on set Alzheimer’s disease when she starts to forget minor things. We see the process of the disease from the start till the point that she can not function properly .
This movie is very well directed and played out from all the actors. Julianne Moore does an excellent job portraying the daily life of a person with Alzheimer’s you can watch her slowly transform from a healthy middle aged functioning woman to someone who does not even know how to spell a simple word or do the basic things alone. What is important also is that the movie shows how her family deals with her disease and how it hits them from one moment to the other. Personally for me that I am still young that movie was scary even at the possibility of getting Alzheimer’s one day.
The last scene of the movie between Alice and her daughter Lydia (Kristen Stewart) is touching , emotional and amazing , best way to end such a film.
In conclusion Still Alice is a decent portrayal of people with Alzheimer’s disease, a disease that makes you lose everything . I totally recommend it because it is worth of everyone’s time to see the point of view of someone who lives like this and also to see the Oscar-winning performance of Juliane Moore.
